Mijn spulletjes verzameling // My knick knack collection

Win-win situatie!

One of my vacation traditions ever since I was a little girl is bringing home piles of ‘stuff’. Define stuff, you say? Alright, here we go: Candy wrappers, cash receipts, leaflets, sugar packets, business cards, entrance tickets, maps, feathers and beach pebbles. You name it, I collected it. The idea was always to put together a scrapbook with all these knick knacks once I would be back home. Truth is, this never actually happened, which meant that when I would clean up my room six months after we returned from vacation, the complete collection of great memories ended up in the trash can. And I was left simply wondering why I had taken the junk home in the first place.
I had to deter myself from doing the same with our U.S. roadtrip this year, which is why I decided to make a digital ‘scrapbook’ of all the things I have collected: I photographed all of my collected, bought or given ‘junk’ (almost) every day. That way I didn’t have to take everything home with me (except for my souvenirs) but I also would not forget about the things I collected. Win-win situation!
