One of my teachers in art school used to always tell me how I would ‘really miss the experimenting we had to do while in school once I would get out of there’. When he said that to me, I remember always thinking: YEAH RIGHT! Because I despised experimenting. Read on to find out why.
Although the weather hasn’t been that bad yet at all here in The Netherlands (as opposed to other parts of the world), what I miss most in wintertime is sunshine. The light as well as the warmth. The fact that the sunshine is hardly warm in wintertime is always a bit depressing if you ask me. So that’s why I created my own ray of sunshine this week in the shape of a very sunny Treasury Thursday. This is an official announcement. No, just kidding. When you read my Twitter bio, you will find that I pronounced myself an ‘inexhaustible entrepreneur’. Because I am.
When I’m not working, I’m thinking about work. When I’m not blogging, I’m brainstorming for subjects to blog about. When I do the dishes, I browse my head for new product ideas. Bluntly said: I am never not working. Ever. And I love it. Because I AM my work. With working, let’s say, 24/7 also come a lot of things you don’t see from the outside. But things that come with entrepreneurship, whether I like it or not. And I want to share those things with you. Read on to find out how I’m going to do that.
This time of the year is about the busiest as it can get for me. The holidays are coming up, so people are christmas shopping in my Etsy shop. And lots of clients want to get projects done before the year is over. So that’s why my to-do lists keep getting longer and longer while the days become shorter. But I don’t mind, because I’ve got the holidays to look forward to and I just love the busyness. It gives me the feeling that I’ve got a lot that’s worth working for. Speaking of work: I’m starting off another week of hard work. But the week hasn’t started yet without this roundup of inspiration.
My pigeon clutch is featured in the Dutch interior magazine ‘Eigen Huis & Interieur’ this month. On a special pigeon trend-page that is. Hooray!

As some of you may already know, I won a portfolio check by Studio100% at the lovely Snorfestival (hosted by Snor Publishers) this september. The prize I won was getting to do a project for ‘Bloemenbureau Holland’ (which is basically the Dutch Flower Association). This organization publishes a poem about a certain flower every month, and each month asks a different artist to illustrate this poem. This month, that illustrator is me! Last week I promised you a ‘making of’ post about my christmas greeting card. Well, today’s the day folks!
This particular project was one of those that was nothing but awesome in my head and during sketch- and illustration-phase, but got me thinking ‘what the heck have I gotten myself into’ once the time came to photograph the illustration. Want to know why? Click through!
Now that november’s halfway over already, I can feel a bit of winter coming. So this might be your last chance to make s’mores by the campfire before the real cold will hit us. Let’s enjoy these last weeks of fall as much as we can, shall we? In the mean time, I’ve got another exciting week ahead of me: a lot of things are going to happen over the coming month, things I will share with you whenever I can, of course. But let’s start this week with the usual inspirational images that depict just these fall moments I just described to you. Enjoy!
