Visiting the city of Los Angeles was one of the things I was looking forward to the most during our roadtrip. And for good reason, because it turned out to be even better than I thought. Although Portland might be at the top of my list, Los Angeles is a wonderful city too. And I must say that I thought the people would not be very nice and everyone would be extraordinarily busy woth themselves. This assumption was true for some parts of the city, but in most places the people were as nice as they will ever be. Click through to see all of our adventures!
You guys! I had such an amazing time this weekend at Seinfestijn. It was a great market with great people. I took a tiny bit of time to relax on sunday, but it’s all work and no play for the rest of the week for me. For the week that is, because this weekend is a girl’s weekend out and oh boy, they are always so full of fun. I hope you guys have a great week ahead of you as well!
Although I consider myself one of the luckiest girls in the world to live the life I’ve always wanted, I sometimes find myself thinking I do not contribute a lot to the world. Okay, I hardly eat any meat, am seriously kind to animals, I do not leave the lights on in places I’m not present at that time, I take showers that are shorter than five minutes and I buy organic food whenever I can.
But still. I am not a surgeon. I am not a human rights activist. I am not a politician. I do not save people’s lives. I am ‘just an illustrator’. I make pretty stuff…
Yay! Today it’s time for my second post about California State, which is full of desert, cacti and…dinosaurs. Seriously. Click through to read all about it.
One of my vacation traditions ever since I was a little girl is bringing home piles of ‘stuff’. Define stuff, you say? Alright, here we go: Candy wrappers, cash receipts, leaflets, sugar packets, business cards, entrance tickets, maps, feathers and beach pebbles. You name it, I collected it. The idea was always to put together a scrapbook with all these knick knacks once I would be back home. Truth is, this never actually happened, which meant that when I would clean up my room six months after we returned from vacation, the complete collection of great memories ended up in the trash can. And I was left simply wondering why I had taken the junk home in the first place.
You’re wondering what my solution to this problem has been with our roadtrip? Click through to find out!
Okay you guys, I could use a little bit of zen, because these past weeks have been CRAZY busy and these busy times do not seem to end anytime soon. I’m preparing for another week of blogging, meetings and last but not least: preparations for Seinfestijn; a handmade market that will have place this saturday (the 27th of september) in Haarlem, The Netherlands. So come say hi and shop some handmade goods! For now: let’s take a moment of peace with this ‘zen’ Inspiration Monday.
While in San Francisco, the song ‘If you’re going to San Francisco’ by Scott McKenzie kept playing over and over and over and over in my head. I didn’t wear flowers in my hair, but I might as well have because this city is one big party. Especially in summer I think. Although it was tourist-hightide, the herds of tourists didn’t bother me as much as it did in Seattle.
I loved the colourful houses, the classic cable cars (of which I did not manage to get a picture) and of course: The Golden Gate Bridge. And it seems San Francisco is the home of serveral social media headquarters (bonus points for those who are able to spot some in the pictures below). Read on for all of our San Francisco adventures:
In the past ‘State’ posts, I’ve included the national parks we visited. I posted a picture or three and that was that. But Lassen Volcanic was SUCH an amazing experience that I just couldn’t show only three or four pictures of it. Now I can hear you think why on earth it is that special? You will find out after clicking through.
California. The sunny state. And it was. California is everything you have ever seen in the movies. And then some more. The Big Sur coast, the cities, the sun. Read on to see what we were up to when we were there.
Happy monday you guys! After having one hell of a week last week and a very busy weekend, I’m happy that the week ahead is a little more peaceful. At least, it looks like it will be now, you never know what is has in store, ha! Anyway, I hope your week will be just as peaceful as mine. And if it’s not, I hope it will be filled with only good things. Have a good one!
